HowTheLightGetsIn, the UK's first philosophy and music festival is back. Next May, thinkers, performers, artists and musicians will be brought together once again for ten very special days, tasked with exciting the imagination and renewing the spirit.

The Institute of Art and Ideas (IAI) aims to promote all forms of creative expression. We are excited by new thinking and ideas that push boundaries.

Our organized events include the Art Festival at Hay, which brings together the world’s leading contemporary artists, curators and commentators, and the Philosophy Festival at Hay, which puts innovation and cutting-edge thought at the forefront of contemporary culture.

Through a dedicated online educational programme, we extend our events and ideas to a much wider audience, reaching out to 400,000 people annually.
